Chronology of cameras Ricoh
The Roico takes 4x4cm images on 127 film
This is an all-metal body that was probably developed on the basis of Riken Gokoku, the focal plane shutter unreliable was replaced by a central shutter much more under control.
So some space has been saved and a more compact has been build.
The focusing system by helical ramp attached to the body and driving the barrel of the collapsible lens has been kept
This well done camera inherits of a counter and a locking mechanism for frame by frame advance.
It seems that at that time Riken was looking for a name, at the same period as the Roico, the Ricohl and the first Ricohflex were released.
Finally the name Ricoh will be adopted first for models and then in 1963 as a company name.
This diagram created by VB allows us to measure the complexity of Ricoh's history.
